Behaviour Support

Supporting Positive Behaviour Change

Xtra Care understands that sometimes participants are communicating through their behaviour and with the support of professional staff, families, carers and advocates.

Xtra Care is able to develop strategies that better support each participant individually. This can include developing Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSP) designed to provide positive and meaningful experiences.

Our Approach

At Xtra Care, our Behaviour Support approach focuses on understanding the underlying reasons behind behaviours of concern. We work with participants in a respectful and person-centred way to promote positive outcomes and improve overall quality of life.

We are committed to reducing restrictive practices and supporting participants to develop safer, more effective ways to communicate their needs.

How We Support You

Our Behaviour Support services include:

  • Developing personalised Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSP)
  • Conducting functional behaviour assessments
  • Providing strategies to reduce behaviours of concern
  • Supporting skill development for communication and emotional regulation
  • Working collaboratively with families, carers, and support teams

Working Together

We take a collaborative approach, working closely with participants, families, carers, and other professionals to ensure supports are consistent and effective. Our goal is to create environments where participants feel safe, understood, and supported.

Building Independence and Wellbeing

Through tailored strategies and ongoing support, we aim to empower participants to build independence, strengthen relationships, and participate more confidently in everyday life.
